What is the Road to 2035?

The Road to 2035 is the School’s ambitious campaign to raise £13 million by 2035. Such an initiative will allow the RGS, within a single generation, to educate any bright deserving boy irrespective of their financial circumstances.

The establishment of an Enduring Bursary Fund will support 1 in 7 boys, or 143 boys, at the RGS. More than 85 of these students will be receive 60% or more support with their education.

Making this vision a reality, is a task for all our community. And so we ask for your unwavering support and commitment and we invite you to become a part of the RGS story and join us on the Road to 2035.

Achieving this goal by 2035 would mark a significant milestone for the School and serve as a remarkable celebration of its 525th anniversary. Join us in making a lasting impact on the lives of deserving students.

Life-Changing Education

The Journey Begins…

When I took on the role of Headmaster, I made a steadfast commitment: every student who successfully passed our entrance exams and received an offer to join the School should have the opportunity to so do, regardless of their families’ financial circumstances. This promise continues to lie at the core of our educational mission.

Dr Jon Cox, Headmaster

Over 500 years of Philanthropy

We are part of a journey that has been continuing for over 500 Years.

Founded in 1509 as a ‘free schole,’ for the education of ‘boys and youths in grammar’ Robert Beckingham, a wealthy grocer and Member of the Grocer’s Company of the City of London, bequeathed a generous legacy in his will to establish a School in Guildford, which was granted a Royal Charter by Edward VI in 1552. We still adhere to these founding principles as we aim to provide the best education for the brightest minds and support 70 current pupils with financial assistance.

Join the journey and make a gift to the Road to 2035.
